Quinn Mathews Makes Futures Game Roster
5 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Quinn Mathews has been having an incredible season on the farm and he has been rewarded with a spot in the All-Star Futures Game. Mathews is the Cardinals No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline and was recently promoted to Double-A Springfield where he didn't miss a beat in his debut last week. Mathews has quickly risen through the Cardinals system since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB draft and has already pitched in three levels in his professional debut season. Between Single-A, High-A and Double-A this season, Mathews has gone 6-2 with a 2.22 ERA to go along with 120 strikeouts over 85 innings in 15 starts. Mathews is unlikely to make the team this year, but at the pace he is going, he could be an option in 2025. Dynasty managers should consider rostering Mathews, while redraft managers should remember his option as a stash option next season.
