Adonai Mitchell vs. Troy Franklin – Who Should I Draft In 2024 Fantasy Football?

Adonai Mitchell - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Should fantasy players draft Adonai Mitchell or Troy Franklin during their 2024 fantasy football drafts? Mike Fanelli examines the case for both rookie wide receivers.

The 2024 NFL Draft class had several talented wide receiver prospects. While Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze were top-10 picks, there were several wide receivers with star potential drafted in the middle rounds.

Two mid-round wide receivers fantasy players should draft his year are Adonai Mitchell and Troy Franklin. Mitchell was a second-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts. Meanwhile, Franklin was a fourth-round selection by the Denver Broncos.

Both rookie receivers have significant upside. However, which one should fantasy players draft first in 2024? Let’s dive into it!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Adonai Mitchell 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Mitchell had a limited role at Georgia, totaling 38 receptions for 560 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 21 games. However, he was outstanding in his lone season at Texas. The talented receiver had 55 receptions for 845 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games, leading the team in receiving scores.

The former Longhorn has been outstanding during the Colts’ mini-camp. Mitchell has built a strong connection with Anthony Richardson. While the talented rookie won’t replace Michael Pittman Jr. as the team’s No. 1 wide receiver, he should beat out Josh Downs for the No. 2 role.

Troy Franklin 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Franklin had an impressive college career, totaling 160 receptions for 2,483 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns in three years at Oregon. His best season came in 2023. The star receiver led the Ducks in receiving yards (1,383) and touchdowns (14) while ranking second in receptions (81).

More importantly, Franklin will play with his former college quarterback in Denver. Bo Nix and the explosive rookie receiver have flashed upside during mini-camp. Courtland Sutton has a solid 2023 season, scoring double-digit receiving touchdowns. However, fantasy players shouldn’t be surprised if the rookie replaces the veteran as the team’s No. 1 wide receiver.

Who Should I Draft?

Both rookie wide receivers are solid double-digit fantasy football draft picks. Yet, Franklin should get picked first despite being a later NFL Draft selection. The former Oregon star could be the Broncos’ No. 1 wide receiver in 2024. Sutton is more likely to get replaced than Pittman. Furthermore, Denver will likely have a higher passing rate than Indianapolis this season.
