Should We Be Targeting Zane Smith In DFS This Weekend?
5 months agoFresh off a runner-up finish in Nashville one week ago, Zane Smith will look to build off this momentum when he starts 30th in the Grant Park 165 from Chicago, IL. While a second-place finish is nothing to scoff at, and while the No. 71 team should take tremendous pride in what they accomplished in Music City, this result is a bit skewed given the chaos of last week's race. Had the race not gone to five overtimes, had some of the top drivers not had fuel issues, and/or not got involved in wrecks during the overtimes, Zane Smith would likely have finished closer to 10th rather than runner-up. This is not said to discredit the Spire Motorsports rookie in any way, as he did have himself in a position to take advantage of the chaos that unfolded. Instead, this is being said to advise caution and to not overreact to what we saw one week ago. It is important to note that the 25-year-old has never competed in a race on this course as he was in truck last season, a series that did not compete in Chicago one year ago. Because of this inexperience and because he has just one top-10 on the season, it is recommended that you fade Zane Smith in DFS this weekend.
