Since finishing 31st at Dover back in April, Gilliland has finished 17th or better in each of the last eight races, which is the best run of his career. It is worth noting that included in this run is a 10th-place finish at Sonoma, which is the most similar to the style track he will race on Sunday afternoon in Chicago. As a driver who has been competitive throughout the season, one who has led 120 laps, the 24-year-old is becoming a driver we need to start paying attention to each week. Even his performance in this race last season should get us excited about the second-generation driver as he managed to finish 19th, up six spots from where he started.
