Carson Hocevar Looks to Redeem Himself After Rough Driving Penalty
5 months agoCarson Hocevar came under fire after last week's Nashville race for intentionally right-hooking Harrison Burton under caution, which resulted in a $50,000 fine and 25-point penalty, making it increasingly unlikely he will overtake Josh Berry for Rookie of the Year honors. It wasn't the first time Hocevar had engaged in such aberrant behavior. However, unlike many other drivers renowned for unhinged aggression, Hocevar seldom gets caught up in the incidents he causes. Nashville was another such example as he still finished 16th and earned his fifth straight top-20 finish. Although many observers felt Hocevar should have been suspended, his train instead rolls on to Chicago, where he qualified 13th, matching his previous best road course qualifying run at Sonoma, where he eventually finished 17th. Since Hocevar's done an excellent job of not wrecking himself regardless of his attitude towards other drivers, another top 20 is likely to be expected.
