Jose Altuve Exits Friday After Hit-By-Pitch
5 months agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hand, wrist) left the game early on Friday against the hosting Minnesota Twins after being hit by a pitch on his left/hand wrist area. Altuve was removed from the contest in eighth inning after talking with a team trainer. The 34-year-old veteran helped his fantasy managers by going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a strikeout in the game before hitting the showers early. He'll likely undergo X-rays at the stadium, and we should have a better idea of the severity of his injury later Friday night or by Saturday morning. Altuve has been a beast this year, hitting .308 with 13 homers and 13 steals in 2024, so losing him for any amount of time would be a big blow for the 'Stros and fantasy managers. Mauricio Dubon replaced Altuve at second on Friday and would likely become the team's primary second baseman if Altuve goes on the injured list. UPDATE: X-rays revealed no fracture, and Altuve was diagnosed with a left-hand contusion.
