Shay Whitcomb is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 16 (2024). Target Shay Whitcomb as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Stash in Deeper Leagues
CALL-UP ETA: August
ANALYSIS: Houston Astros shortstop prospect Shay Whitcomb has been performing very well in his second look at Triple-A pitching this season and is approaching his major league debut.
In 78 games this season at Triple-A Sugar Land, the former fifth-round selection holds an excellent .312/.396/.570 slash line with 19 home runs, 20 stolen bases, and 71 RBI.
Shay Whitcomb was a beast in June.
116 PA, .347/.414/.653, 20 R, 9 HR, 29 RBI, 13 SB, 9.5% BB, 16.4% K
Up to 18 HR and 20 SB in 74 games this season. One of the more underrated prospects in baseball right now.#Relentlesspic.twitter.com/tJQhyDeJBw

In 87 games last summer, Whitcomb posted a poor .224/.281/.434 line with 23 home runs, 66 RBI, and 12 swiped bags. It is great to see Whitcomb greatly improve his batting average and on-base skills in just one year.
In addition, the 25-year-old has been riding a stellar .362 AVG in his past 12 games. If Whitcomb continues this excellent hitting, he has a great chance of joining Houston in the second half of the summer.
