Connor Staine Tallies Season-High 12 Strikeouts
5 months agoColorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Connor Staine tossed seven innings of one-hit ball on Thursday with a season-high 12 punchouts. He allowed two walks. This was a great rebound game for the 23-year-old right-hander since he allowed six earned runs across two innings in his last start. Besides that one outlier showing, Staine has made four starts since June 9 and has only allowed a combined one run across them. Overall, through his first 54 innings at High-A, the Central Florida product has posted a 4.33 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 22:59 BB:K ratio. Last season, Staine held a 5.25 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 28:93 BB:K ratio across 94 ⅓ innings at Single-A. Staine is ranked outside the top 30 Colorado prospects on MLB Pipeline but could join this list if he can continue to show more consistency at High-A.
