Ezequiel Tovar Getting A Day Off
5 months agoColorado Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar will get the day off on Wednesday against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers at Coors Field. It's a rare day of rest for Tovar, as this is just his third game off of the 2024 season. The 22-year-old shortstop is having a solid year for himself in his second full season for the Rockies, slashing .276/.304/.459 with 12 home runs, 24 doubles, two triples, 37 RBI, four stolen bases and 42 runs scored in 84 games. But after going 0-for-10 with four strikeouts in the first two games of July, the Rockies have decided to give their young star shortstop a breather. He'll be replaced at the 6 on Wednesday by Aaron Schunk, who will bat ninth in the order against Brewers right-hander Colin Rea. Schunk has only played in three big-league games to this point and is searching for his first hit after his first four plate appearances.
