Jake Bloss Could Be An Option To Start Soon
5 months agoHouston Astros rookie right-hander Jake Bloss (shoulder) could be an option to start for the team during their homestand that begins on July 9, according to manager Joe Espada. Bloss threw 20 pitches on Sunday in New York in his first bullpen session since he landed on the 15-day injured list on June 21 with right-shoulder discomfort and "walked away with a smile on his face," Espada said. Bloss had played catch for a couple of days previously. He's eligible to come off the injured list on July 7. The 23-year-old former third-round pick in 2023 out of Georgetown has made a quick rise to the big leagues and made his major-league debut in a start on June 21 against the Baltimore Orioles, giving up two earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two in only 3 2/3 innings. MLB Pipeline has Bloss ranked as Houston's No. 10 prospect.
