BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper NL-Only Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 0% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Gordon Graceffo was drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB Draft and has quickly moved up the ranks in the organization, culminating with the Cardinals calling him up to the big leagues on Friday. This is despite not having a lot of success at Double-A in 2022 or in his first taste of Triple-A last season. However, the righty has posted a solid 3.84 ERA along with a 1.35 WHIP and 12.5% K-BB% over 14 starts at Triple-A this season. The low 8.4 K/9 is not typical of MLB starters these days, and that stat likely wouldn't see an improvement in the Show.

Even though he's worked exclusively as a starter this season, at this point the Cardinals do not have plans of putting him in the rotation, rather, he is expected to work out of the bullpen. Pitching in short stints might allow him to increase his velocity, as he's capable of touching high-90s on his fastball, and might allow some better strikeout ratios. Until he's penciled in as a starter, though, he doesn't warrant a roster spot in redraft leagues unless perhaps you participate in an NL-only league that also rewards holds. If that happens to be you, the Cardinals' eighth-ranked prospect is available in all Yahoo leagues.
