BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Once in a while, a pitcher who no one even expected to be in the major leagues goes out and throws a gem. That's exactly what happened last night as 27-year-old rookie Davis Daniel shut down the Detroit Tigers for eight innings while piling up eight strikeouts.
Daniel, who tossed 20 innings last season - mainly in relief - was summoned from Triple-A Salt Lake to make a spot start for the Angels after they had to place Patrick Sandoval on the IL for the remainder of the season.
Daniel's numbers at Triple-A this year were not all that inspiring, as he had posted a 5.33 ERA across 14 starts, however, we know that the PCL is a hitter's league and that ERAs can get inflated there.
If you're in a deep league looking for a pitcher to stream, Davis Daniel is kind of interesting
MiLB numbers haven't been great (though he does have a 3.73 FIP), but the FB and SL have both looked good and he's against the Tigers who have the 5th-worst team wOBA in the league pic.twitter.com/cl6QCMGmxY

He did have 82 strikeouts across 76 innings at Triple-A this season, and that strikeout prowess showed against the Tigers in his debut. He used an above-average fastball and solid slider to keep Tiger hitters off balance while not issuing a single walk.
The ceiling is probably pretty low here on Daniel, but there seems to be a decent floor. And given how well he pitched in his debut, he should get another opportunity to stick in the rotation next week against Oakland, which is an even better matchup that he could exploit.
He's worth a look in deeper formats as a potential streamer for that Oakland game next week and perhaps beyond that if he can replicate his first performance against Detroit.
