Top Five Hitting Prospects To Stash For Week 15 Fantasy Baseball Redraft Leagues (2024)

James Wood - Fantasy Baseball Prospects, Draft Sleepers, MLB Rankings

Welcome back to top prospects to stash! This list will highlight the top-5 hitting prospects to hold on your bench in redraft fantasy baseball leagues.

We are reaching the point of the fantasy baseball season where fantasy managers have seen prospects given major league opportunities. While some have struggled to gain a foothold, others have met the moment and claimed a spot in the lineup for the big club. While injuries mount and teams begin to bolster their roster for a playoff run or build for the future, more young, talented players will be given a shot. So, let's get ahead of the game.

These five fantasy baseball prospects are most worth rostering right now as we attempt to anticipate the biggest impact promotions before they happen. Check back to see risers and fallers as teams continue to give promotions to their young, talented prospects!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and weekly lineup resources:

Top Fantasy Baseball Hitting Prospect Stashes

James Wood - OF, Washington Nationals

The perfect combination of prospect pedigree and production begging for a promotion makes Wood the highest-priority stash at the moment. Simply put, Wood is tearing up Triple-A. MLB's No. 3 overall prospect is hitting .310 with three homers and seven RBI over his last 10 games.

That brings Wood's average up to .346 at Rochester this season with 10 homers, 34 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. The only thing that has slowed down the 6-foot-7 21-year-old this season has been a stint on the injured list with a hamstring injury.

The current Washington Nationals outfield is not the most awe-inspiring group collectively. Wood could be considered an immediate upgrade over most of the names, which include Jesse Winker, Jacob Young, Lane Thomas, and Eddie Rosario. The time is now to stash this future fantasy stud with a rare profile of power and speed that belies his massive frame.

Coby Mayo - 3B/1B, Baltimore Orioles

Speaking of production, Mayo has been ambushing minor league pitching since his return from a rib injury. MLB's No. 18 overall prospect is on a power heater since he started his rehab assignment on June 13. In four rehab games, Mayo hit three homers with six RBI.

Then he returned to Triple-A Norfolk and has gone 14-for-32 with four homers and 10 RBI with a slugging percentage of .906. (I had to do a double take, but yes that's his slugging percentage and not his OPS.)

This kind of power production should be leaving fantasy managers chomping at the bit to stash Mayo. He just needs an opportunity to join the Orioles' loaded lineup. Could he push Jordan Westburg from third base to second base or could he somehow platoon with Ryan Mountcastle at first base and get some designated hitter at-bats? All he needs is a chance.

Brooks Lee - SS, Minnesota Twins

Knocking on the door to join the Twins, Lee may not boast the raw power potential of Wood or Mayo, but he is not far off and he may be a more polished overall hitter.

MLB's No. 13 overall prospect has also battled injury this season, dealing with a herniated disc. But he is as hot as anyone in the minors right now. In his last 10 games, Lee has five homers, 14 RBI, and is hitting .366 with a .429 on-base percentage.

He is doing everything short of driving himself to Target Field in his quest for a promotion. A spot in the Twins lineup would be a nice reward for fantasy managers who take a chance and stash Lee. He has even been making some appearances at second base, only adding to his position versatility upon his potential call-up.

Junior Caminero - 3B, Tampa Bay Rays

This wouldn't be a prospect stash list without Caminero taking up a spot. Yes, he is currently injured, but his fantasy upside still makes him a worthwhile player for which to carve out a roster spot.

His initial injury timetable with his latest quadriceps injury puts him close to returning to action. He could need a rehab assignment before rejoining Triple-A Durham. But this is baseball's No. 2 overall prospect who possesses 70-grade power with a 60-grade hit tool.

This caliber of prospect doesn't come around often and he still has time this season to make an impact for fantasy managers during the stretch run. If not for separate injury stints this season, Caminero would likely already be in Tampa Bay. If the Rays seek an offensive spark at some point soon, Caminero could be the answer.

Jackson Holliday - SS/2B, Baltimore Orioles

Holliday is a prospect who has already crashed and burned to an extent in the major leagues. An aggressive early-season promotion left the 20-year-old leaving fantasy managers a bit of a sour taste. A 2-for-34 stint in Baltimore left the Orioles no choice but to send him back to Triple-A Norfolk.

Since then, it's been a mixed bag for Holliday and he just recently returned from his own stint on the injured list. He is set to receive at-bats as the designated hitter before returning to play the infield. Overall at Norfolk, Holliday is hitting .272 with seven homers and 28 RBI. The top overall prospect in baseball has the potential to quickly erase memories of his early-season struggles if he returns to the majors at some point during the stretch run and remains confident in his abilities.

There is no telling how Holliday would handle another shot at big league pitching this season, but his pedigree alone makes him a name to stash in redraft leagues for managers who want to take a big swing with an eye toward the final months of the season. Mayo could have passed Holliday on the Orioles' promotion pecking order with his recent performance, but even that is not a guarantee. If Holliday proves full health and restored confidence, a promotion at any point would not be surprising.
