For a (initially) collegiate wide receiver, Ryan Tannehill has delivered a respectable NFL career as a quarterback.
Tannehill's tenure in Tennessee came to an unceremonious end after five seasons rocking the Titans blue. A lengthy injury coupled with a losing record convinced the team to turn the reigns over to rookie Will Levis. Tannehill started his final games in Nashville at the tail end of the season.
Where could he land for the 2024 season? Let's dive in.

Is Ryan Tannehill A Free Agent?
Tannehill will be 36 years old by the time training camps open, and he'll likely celebrate his birthday while still searching for a contract.
His play has slipped since his 33-touchdown, seven-interception campaign in 2020. The interception totals have risen while the touchdown numbers have fallen. Eventually, the wins began to slip away as well.

Tannehill's days of being an NFL starting quarterback are through. The former Texas A&M Aggie also holds little value as a backup quarterback right now. Most teams with young, inexperienced signal-callers have a veteran backup rostered. Tannehill will be waiting for an injury during training camp which forces an NFL general manager to look for quarterback help outside of the team facility.
Which Teams Would Be Good Fits for Tannehill?
Miami Dolphins
Barring any injuries, a return to the team that drafted him in 2012 makes the most sense. Tua Tagovailoa has a history of head injuries. Mike White and Skylar Thompson, who have just a handful of combined NFL starts under their belt, are the backups. Tannehill could slide in as the backup in case Tagovailoa is forced to miss some time.
Detroit Lions
Similarly to Miami, Detroit doesn't have any dependable backup quarterbacks on the roster. Nate Sudfeld is a career backup and has played for both Philadelphia and Detroit. Hendon Hooker redshirted his rookie season. A little extra insurance for Jared Goff wouldn't hurt if something changes with the roster. There are also some former Aggies on the Detroit coaching staff.
Green Bay Packers
Sean Clifford, Alex McGough, and rookie Michael Pratt. That's who sits behind Jordan Love on the Green Bay depth chart. If Love were to miss any time, the Packers would be bringing in a veteran presence. The job for Tannehill at Lambeau will be simple: get the football in the hands of any of the young wide receivers and watch them work.
