Martin Truex Jr. Salvages Ninth-Place Finish After Throwing Win Away
6 months agoIt looked like Martin Truex Jr. was on his way to another win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon, but as has been the case many times this season, his pit crew let him down. After finally grabbing the lead and starting to pull away, Truex pitted under caution, only for his pit crew to have issues with the right rear tire. The extended pit stop made the No. 19 team lose all of their track position, and Truex eventually got caught up in a wreck. He was able to salvage a ninth-place finish after all of that, though, thanks in major part to NASCAR restarting the race and allowing the teams to use rain tires. Truex is still searching for his first win of the 2024 season but sits in fourth in the points standings, so even if he doesn't win, he will more than likely make the playoffs anyway.
