Just when Jasson Dominguez was looking impossible to get out in the minor leagues during his rehab assignments, another unfortunate injury struck.
Dominguez was hitting everything he saw at Double-A and Triple-A and was being mentioned as a potential call-up to the Yankees in the coming weeks.
However, he strained his oblique last week, and the initial reports are that it's going to cost him months, not weeks, placing the remainder of his 2024 season in jeopardy.

Jasson Dominguez Injury Update for Fantasy Baseball
Dominguez's oblique injury is going to cost him "up to eight weeks," according to Yankees manager Aaron Boone. And while Dominguez had yet to see a pitch as a Yankee this season, this injury is a major blow to the depth of the organization in the outfield.
While Juan Soto and Aaron Judge have been healthy and smashing the baseball, Giancarlo Stanton is now a bit banged up. Dominguez would have been the first choice of minor leaguers to replace Stanton if he were to need time on the IL.
Having this happen while Jasson Dominguez is on the minor league IL for 2 months is just rude https://t.co/T203pHl6ud

For now, Alex Verdugo's job is safe, and the Yankees will have to look elsewhere in the organization (or through a trade before the deadline) for a fourth outfielder.
Jasson Dominguez Fantasy Baseball Outlook
Dominguez is still rostered in 21% of Yahoo leagues, but that number is simply too high. If you are in an extremely deep format, then I could see continuing to use an IL spot on Dominguez, as it's possible he returns sometime in late August and perhaps gets some at-bats in September once rosters expand.
But Dominguez can be cut in almost all other formats. The likelihood of him having a major impact on the Yankees or on your fantasy team is extremely low now after the injury.
It's a shame because the talented young Dominguez looked ready for a breakout season if he ever got the call to the Bronx, but we are likely going to have to wait for the 2025 season to see that now.
