Is Ryan Blaney An Overlooked Favorite To Win At New Hampshire?
6 months agoAfter qualifying for this week's USA Today 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway was canceled, Ryan Blaney obtained a starting position of second. This is the highest starting position of his Cup Series career at New Hampshire and the fourth consecutive race with a top-5 starting position this season. In 11 previous starts at NHMS, Blaney has four top-10 finishes and a best career finish of fourth. After 17 races completed so far this season, Blaney has one win and seven top-10 finishes, including each of the last two races. In practice, before it was cut short due to weather, Blaney ranked 14th in overall lap averages and ninth in five consecutive lap averages. Blaney had some of his best 2024 performances so far at flatter tracks like Phoenix, where he placed in the Top 5, and Gateway, where he almost won before running out of fuel on the final lap. Based on equipment and overall 2024 performance, especially on flat tracks, look for Blaney as an underrated favorite to compete for the win.
