Tommy Fleetwood Lacks Upside At TPC River Highlands
10 months agoThere's no doubting the fact that Tommy Fleetwood has been a model of consistency lately. The 33-year-old Brit has only missed one cut in his fifteen starts in the 2024 calendar year, and he hasn't finished outside of the top-26 in five consecutive starts. But Fleetwood isn't a prolific birdie-maker and has more of a reputation for contending on courses with difficult courses where his overall tee-to-green play can be a true differentiator. That anecdote may help explain the results in his last two appearances here, losing strokes ball-striking en route to finishes of T46 in 2022 and a missed cut in 2023. The statistics don't paint a rosy picture this week either, as Fleetwood ranks outside of the top-20 golfers in the field on overall approach, overall tee-to-green, opportunities gained, Bentgrass putting, and strokes gained on both short and easy courses. That isn't appetizing for the eighth highest-priced golfer on the slate this week, and fantasy managers should strongly consider pivoting to higher-upside options as a result.

Tommy Fleetwood Looks To Keep Short But Successful Run Going At Innisbrook
2 weeks agoWith only two starts at the Copperhead Course, Tommy Fleetwood has never made this event a "must stop" on his schedule. But, the Englishman has played well on both occasions and comes into this week looking to add another solid finish to his resume. It's difficult to go as far as to call for a victory, as the 34-year-old has a well-documented history of winning woes on U.S. soil. However, this is a place seemingly ripe for him to change that. He ranks second on the season in strokes gained on approach (+1.076) and 38th in strokes gained off the tee (+0.349). A glaring downside for him would be his struggles with longer irons, as over 52% of approach shots come from beyond 175 yards. Fleetwood's proximity numbers for those distances mostly rank outside of the top 125. While another top week for him is expected, avoiding his massive ownership could be a better decision for most DFS builds.

Tommy Fleetwood Secures Fourth Top-25 Finish In 2025
3 weeks agoTommy Fleetwood finished tied for 11th at last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational and is now focusing on preparing for this week's The PLAYERS Championship, which will be held at TPC Sawgrass. He hasn't finished worse than a tie for 22nd in all four of his starts this year, and he aims to maintain that level of play this week. Historically, Fleetwood has performed well at The PLAYERS Championship, finishing tied for 35th in 2024, tied for 27th in 2023, and tied for 22nd in 2022. Over the past 12 months, Fleetwood ranks in the 99th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway. This is significant because, at last year's The PLAYERS Championship, over 32% of approach shots came from this distance. Given his strong performance, Fleetwood could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.

Tommy Fleetwood Looking To Get Back Into Good Graces At Bay Hill
4 weeks agoEarly in his career, the Arnold Palmer Invitational looked like a place itching to award Tommy Fleetwood his first victory on American soil. However, after eight attempts, things have begun to go sideways for the English golfer at Bay Hill in recent years, having shot a second-round 80 last year and being only one of 11 players to miss the cut. 2025 has started well for the 34-year-old, and his most recent T5 finish at the Genesis certainly piques the interest of many DFS players wondering if it's time to jump back on the Fleetwood-Bay Hill bandwagon. Considering that his bad time last year was from losing over four strokes on approach in the two rounds played and the fact that he's currently leading the PGA Tour this season in that same metric (+1.178), the tides certainly seem to be changing. Start Fleetwood with confidence.

Tommy Fleetwood An Interesting Name For Genesis Invitational
2 months agoProbably a better play at the original host site, Riviera Country Club, Tommy Fleetwood still makes for a person of interest ahead of Thursday at Torrey Pines. Through only two events played this season (One PGA Tour and one DP World Tour event), the 34-year-old has gained over 10 shots on approach and is averaging +0.365 strokes gained off the tee. Putting has ultimately kept him from higher finishes, but if the weather report holds with rain and breezy conditions in at least the first two rounds, it shouldn't play as big of a factor. He shot one of the lowest rounds of the day (67) Saturday at Pebble in similar conditions, and with little course history here, it could be wise to take a chance.
