Alex Bowman Rallies Through The Field To Finish Eighth At Iowa
6 months agoHendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman finished eighth in this year's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway after a hard-fought day. The No. 48 Chevrolet driver started at Iowa from the rear in the 33rd position but had one of the faster cars in the field in the early portion of the race. At the end of stage one, Bowman was 11th and missed scoring stage points. In the second stage, Bowman competed for a top-10 spot until a bad pit strategy after a caution on lap 182 left him off the lead lap. Bowman took the wave around and battled back to 16th by the end of the second stage. In the final stage, Bowman quietly gained more positions and settled for his series-tying 10th top-10 result of the year. The NASCAR Cup Series will next head to New Hampshire, a track where Bowman historically struggles with only one top-10 finish in 12 starts.
