Monday’s Game 5 between the Celtics and Mavericks brings us more Single-Game contests on DraftKings and FanDuel. The lineup construction is a bit different compared to the typical DFS slate as these include a 1.5x multiplier Captain's spot on DraftKings that carries elevated salaries for each player, and MVP (2x), STAR (1.5x), and PRO (1.2x) spots on FanDuel, where player's salaries are the same regardless of roster spot.
The key to being successful in NBA DFS comes down to making adjustments during the day as injury information becomes available, but it's always really important to have a game plan and to have the best players and spots circled first before making those adjustments. To keep up with all the latest developments and get access to updated projections, grab an NBA season pass and also gain access to our RotoBaller Premium Discord, where @chiefjustice6 is talking about the slate up until lineups lock!
This article will provide you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 6/17/24. Remember to monitor NBA injury news and our awesome NBA injuries report tool, as the slate can completely change before lineups lock at 8:30 p.m. EDT on FanDuel and DraftKings. Good luck, RotoBallers!

Today's NBA DFS Core Picks (Captain/MVP/STAR)
Given the lopsided score, it’s difficult to gain much from looking at the stats for Game 4. Luka Doncic only played 33 minutes, but still finished with 29 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. If there is an area of concern, it’s that he shot 0-for-8 from behind the arc. Still, he is a triple-double threat whenever he takes the floor, making him an ideal option for one of these important multiplier positions.
Luka Dončić has now scored 607 points this postseason, which is the 23rd most in a postseason run.

Jayson Tatum only played 27 minutes in Game 4, leaving him with a paltry 10 shot attempts. Throw his stat line out the window. In total, he has averaged 24.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game during the playoffs. Outside of Doncic, he probably has the next highest floor of any player on either side
Jaylen Brown shot 47.7 percent from the field and 63.9 percent from the free-throw line on the road during the regular season. At home, he shot 52.4 percent from the field and 77.5 percent from the charity stripe. With the potential for him to play around 40 minutes if the game stays close, he is difficult to resist for DFS.
Top Captain's Spot/MVP Plays:
- Luka Doncic, DAL at BOS – PG ($20,700 DK; $18,000 FD)
- Jayson Tatum, BOS vs. DAL – SF/PF ($17,100 DK; $15,500 FD)
- Jaylen Brown, BOS vs. DAL – SG/SF ($14,700 DK; $14,500 FD)
ALSO CONSIDER: Jrue Holiday, BOS vs. DAL – PG ($10,500 DK; $10,500 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Value Picks (Utility/PRO)
During the regular season, Derrick White shot 39.6 percent from behind the arc. In the playoffs, he has shot 39.9 percent from deep on his way to averaging 16.9 points per game. Combine that with his playoff averages of 4.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.2 blocks and White stands out as someone to strongly consider.
P.J. Washington logged just 14 minutes in Game 4. Before that, he had averaged 37 minutes per game in the playoffs, so the lopsided score clearly impacted him. After scoring at least 13 points and grabbing at least seven rebounds in each of the first three games of the series, expect Washington to bounce back with a more valuable stat line.
Kristaps Porzingis (lower leg) being out of the lineup has provided a significant boost for Derrick Lively II. He has posted a double-double in both games since Porzingis went down, which is even more impressive when you consider that he only played 22 minutes in Game 4. Even if Porzingis suits up for Game 5, he would likely be significantly limited. That should open the door for Lively to thrive again.

- J. Washington, DAL at BOS – PF/C ($5,800 DK; $9,000 FD)
- Dereck Lively II, DAL at BOS – C ($5,400 DK; $10,000 FD)
ALSO CONSIDER: Daniel Gafford, DAL at BOS – C ($4,200 DK; $8,500 FD)
Today's Top NBA DFS Avoids
- There really isn’t anyone that stands out as a player to avoid. Both teams have been riding their starters with heavy minutes, which mitigates the risk with most of them.
