ANALYSIS: Chicago Cubs' top prospect Cade Horton continues to pitch well at the minor league level. In 2023, Horton finished the year with a combined 2.65 ERA and 117 strikeouts across Single-A, High-A, and Double-A. Then, the right-hander started the 2024 campaign at Double-A Tennessee, where he had a 1.10 ERA across four outings.
That strong start earned him a promotion to Triple-A in early May. However, Horton hasn't seen the same level of success. MLB Pipeline's No. 17 overall prospect currently owns a 7.50 ERA across his first five starts at Triple-A Iowa this season. On top of that, the 22-year-old is currently dealing with a back issue that is expected to keep him out until late July.

As a result, fantasy managers should not expect Horton to make his major league debut until late in the 2024 campaign -- if at all this season. The Cubs rotation has been one of the team's few bright spots in 2024, so there might not be an immediate need to call up the young pitcher this year.
