Is Connor Norby a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash? Joey discusses the fantasy baseball outlook for Connor Norby in re-draft leagues for the rest of the 2024 season.
Earlier last week, the Baltimore Orioles called up their No. 6 prospect, Connor Norby. With Jorge Mateo landing on the injured list, Baltimore needed an infielder to replace him. So, Norby eventually was recalled and made his MLB debut on June 3.
However, his time in the big leagues quickly came to an end when Mateo was activated on June 11 from the 7-day injured list. In a corresponding move, Norby was optioned and sent back to Triple-A Norfolk.
So, with Norby not on the team anymore, is he worth a stash in redraft formats in 2024? Let's dive in and find out.
Connor Norby's 2024 Season
Before making his MLB debut on June 3, Norby was tearing it up at Triple-A Norfolk. He was hitting .286 with nine home runs, 17 doubles, one triple, and 36 RBI. Those solid numbers came after the young outfielder hit .290 with 21 HRs, 40 doubles, and 92 RBI across 138 games in 2023.
However, Norby didn't get enough time to showcase his potential at the major league level. He spent only eight days with the Orioles while starting four of those games. In those four contests, the 24-year-old went 3-for-14 (.214 average) at the plate with one home run, two RBI, and three strikeouts. The second baseman, though, did tally a hit in three of the four contests he played in.

It's hard to evaluate how Norby looked in the majors after just four games. He showed some nice things, like when he hit a two-run home run in his second career game. But it was obvious that he was still adjusting to the big league level.
Should I Stash Connor Norby In Redraft Leagues?
As we enter the midway point of the fantasy season, stashing certain prospects could be extremely important. Those who stashed Pittsburgh Pirates starter Paul Skenes earlier in the year were rewarded big time. Nonetheless, given where the Orioles are in the standings and their current infield situation, Norby should not be stashed in redraft formats.
Tonight, Connor Norby became the 12th Oriole in franchise history to collect their first career hit via home run (Orioles PR).

It's obvious that the Orioles are rolling with what they have this season while prioritizing some of their veterans. With Mateo locked into an everyday role at second base, there might not be a path to playing time for Norby. That's why he should be dropped or left on waivers in almost all formats. Even if he does get called up again, he likely won't see everyday reps in Baltimore's lineup.
