5 months agoTony Finau will likely be a popular option for the US Open this week, and rightfully so. The 34-year-old Tour star is having an excellent year, having only missed one cut to go along with eight top-20 finishes in his 15 starts in the 2024 calendar year. He's also gained over five strokes from tee-to-green in his last three events, and his inconsistent putter has started to show significant signs of improvement. Finau should be a solid course fit for Pinehurst as well, as he ranks 25th in total driving, third in weighted approach play, first in lag putting, fifth on long courses, and 11th on hard courses over the last 24 rounds. Finau is a six-time PGA Tour winner, and a Major victory remains one of the only missing pieces on his career resume. While his last top-10 Major finish was over two years ago at the 2021 PGA Championship, it wouldn't be out of the question to see Finau check that final box this weekend.--Ryan Hickey
