Trust Ludvig Aberg At Pinehurst
6 months agoLudvig Aberg was a popular option for fantasy managers at the PGA Championship back in mid-May, but he disappointed with an uncharacteristically average ball-striking performance to go along with his first missed cut since the Genesis Scottish Open in July of 2023. Concerns over his injured right knee were compounded, as evident by his lower-than-expected 12.8% ownership at the Memorial Tournament last week. But Aberg's performance there should put any doubts about his injury to rest, as he apparently shed his knee brace and gained close to eight and a half strokes total en route to a T5 finish. That result marked his sixth top-10 finish in just 12 starts in the 2024 calendar year, and the 24-year-old Swedish star should be in line for a similar result at Pinehurst this week. Over the last 24 rounds, Aberg ranks fourth in total driving, fifth in weighted approach, eighth in scrambling, seventh in Bermuda putting, and third in bogey avoidance. Another top-10 finish could be in the cards this week, and an outright victory is in the realistic realm of outcomes. In other words, fantasy managers should roster Aberg with the utmost confidence this week.
