Joe Ross Suffers Setback, Won't Be Ready By June 17
6 months agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Joe Ross (back) recently had a setback in his recovery from a lower-back strain. Manager Pat Murphy said the team was hoping Ross could return from the 15-day injured list by June 17, but that won't happen now. The Brewers have already used 11 starting pitchers this season, and pitching prospect Robert Gasser (elbow) is likely joining Brandon Woodruff and Wade Miley as pitchers lost for the rest of the year. The 31-year-old Ross is without a timetable to resume a throwing program and most likely won't be back now before the All-Star break in mid-July. He's been out since late May and has gone 2-4 with a 4.50 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 35:16 K:BB in his nine starts in 2024. Jakob Junis (shoulder) and DL Hall (knee) should be candidates to join Milwaukee's rotation soon, with Junis' return potentially right around the corner.
