Despite Starting On The Pole, Joey Logano Finishes 21st At Sonoma
6 months agoAfter starting on the pole, Joey Logano finished 21st in Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. Early in the race, Logano looked like he may contend for the victory as he led 16 laps and posted two fastest laps right out of the gate. However, despite how strong he initially looked, an incident in the closing laps of stage one changed the course of his day. Specifically, on lap 19, Chase Briscoe spun into Logano, which damaged the right side of the No. 22. Given that he had the third-highest ownership in DraftKings featured contest (34.15%) on Sunday, this incident was certainly impactful as the 34-year-old lost several points because of the place differential he lost after starting on the front row. Up next for the Team Penske star is a trip to Iowa Speedway for the Cup Series debut in the Hawkeye State, a race that Logano will likely be considered among the favorites to win.
