Matt Chapman Out After Hamstring Cramp
6 months agoSan Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman (hamstring) felt a hamstring cramp when he made a diving attempt in the ninth inning on Saturday against the Texas Rangers, and manager Bob Melvin thinks he needs a day off. It's why Chapman isn't in Sunday's starting lineup in Texas. With Chapman getting a breather in the series finale, Casey Schmitt will get the nod at the hot corner and will bat eighth in the order against Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Chapman is day-to-day, and fantasy managers will want to check on his availability for Monday's series opener against the Houston Astros. Schmitt, who will have little DFS value in the eight-hole in a tough matchup, has hit .235 (8-for-34) with two home runs and five RBI in limited opportunities in a bench role for the Giants.
