Agustin Ramirez Launches Three Home Runs
10 months agoNew York Yankees catching prospect Agustin Ramirez launched three home runs and extended his hitting streak to three games. Over his past 13 games, Ramirez has been exceptional with a .321/.339/.607 line and 12 RBI. Through the early part of the season in his first extended look at Double-A, the 22-year-old has looked quite comfortable with a .282/.377/.585 line with 15 total long balls, 41 RBI, and a 28:38 BB:K ratio in 49 games. This is a significant improvement compared to his .211 AVG he held through 31 games with Double-A Somerset last summer. MLB Pipeline projects Ramirez to reach the majors in 2026, but with how well he is performing, a 2025 debut is not out of reach.

Agustin Ramirez Drills First Home Run Of The Spring
4 weeks agoMiami Marlins catcher/first base prospect Agustin Ramirez belted his first home run of the spring on Thursday, and it couldn't have come at a better time. With the Marlins trailing 1-0 in the ninth, Ramirez drilled a solo blast that would tie the game 1-1, which would go on to be the final score in the Grapefruit League contest. Ramirez ranks as the Marlins' No. 4 overall prospect, but although he is a catcher by trade, most believe he'll end up at first base, which might be how he gets to the majors sooner rather than later. Miami has veteran Nick Fortes penciled in as the starter with fellow prospect Liam Hicks expected to win the backup role come Opening Day. The 23-year-old hit 25 home runs last season between Double-A and Triple-A but flashed some sneaky base-stealing chops, swiping 22 bags during the campaign. The right-handed hitter also draws a lot of walks, helping him to a career .354 OBP in the minors. An offensive-minded catcher is appealing in fantasy, and he also carries eligibility at both C and 1B, adding to his rosterability once he gets to the big leagues, which should be sometime in 2025.

Agustin Ramirez Improving On Defense
4 weeks agoMiami Marlins catching prospect Agustin Ramirez has focused on improving his defense during spring training. Ramirez worked on his ability to throw out opposing baserunners during the offseason. Marlins president of baseball operations Peter Bendix noted that Ramirez is a catcher. Ramirez has shown steady development at the plate and is expected to be the team's backstop of the future. The Marlins acquired Ramirez from the Yankees in the trade that sent Jazz Chisholm Jr. to the Bronx. The 23-year-old logged 68 games at the Triple-A level last season and held a .246/.345/.411 slash line with 12 doubles and nine home runs. However, once he joined the Marlins, Ramirez took a step forward as he held a .262/.358/.447 slash line with five long balls. If he continues to show growth in spring training, he could push to break the Opening Day roster or earn an early 2025 debut.

Agustin Ramirez Could Contend For Starting Job
2 months agoAccording to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Miami Marlins catching prospect Agustin Ramirez will be in the mix for the starting catching job during spring training. Jackson noted that Ramirez may need more development in the minor leagues but could make a case to open the season in the majors, depending on his performance during spring training. Ramirez was acquired by the Marlins during the 2024 season in a trade that sent Jazz Chisholm Jr. to the Bronx. If he were to open the season in the minors, Nick Fortes would slot in as the everyday backstop, with Liam Hicks or Rob Brantly slotting in as the No. 2 option. Ramirez is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the Miami system on MLB Pipeline. Last summer, the 23-year-old opened the season with Double-A and held a .224/.328/.570 line. He was then moved up to Triple-A, where he posted a .246/.345/.411 slash line. If he can crack the Opening Day roster, he carries sneaky power upside in NL-only formats.

Agustin Ramirez Rolling With Triple-A Jacksonville
8 months agoMiami Marlins catcher prospect Agustin Ramirez has impressed with Triple-A Jacksonville since joining the Marlins' organization from the New York Yankees in a trade that sent Jazz Chisholm to New York. Ramirez has played 11 games with Jacksonville and is hitting .317/.417/.561 with two homers, four doubles, and eight RBI. The 22-year-old is one of the top catcher prospects in the minors and is showing why in his new organization. If he keeps this up in Jacksonville, he could earn a look with the Marlins before this season is over.
