Alek Manoah To Undergo Season Ending UCL Surgery
6 months agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah (elbow) will undergo season ending UCL surgery on June 17th, according to manager John Schneider. The exact surgery he will have has yet to be determined, but the right-hander's 2024 season is over. Manoah had battled his way back from shoulder issues this season and was able to start in five games and post a 3.70 ERA before being removed from his start against the Chicago White Sox in the second inning. As of now the Blue Jays do not have plans to call up another pitcher to replace Manoah. Toronto started Trevor Richards in a bullpen game on June 4th in what would have been Manoah's start had he not gotten injured. Sunday would be his next start and Toronto currently has not named a starter yet. Fantasy managers should sit tight if they're looking for a Blue Jays starter to replace Manoah's spot in the rotation. Rookie Yariel Rodriguez may replace him, but he will have another rehab start on Tuesday so his next likely chance to join the Blue Jays wouldn't be until around 6/14 for Toronto's series against the Cleveland Guardians.
