BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 16% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Povich finally got the call to make his MLB debut and will face the Toronto Blue Jays on the road. The Orioles decided to push back Kyle Bradish's start, making Povich the sixth man in the Baltimore rotation.
This might be a one-time audition for Povich, as Baltimore is expected to send him back to Triple-A after the game. However, with injuries to John Means, Tyler Wells, and Dean Kremer - the Orioles are suddenly very thin at starting pitcher, and if Povich pitches well, we could see him back up again this Summer.
Cole Irvin and Albert Suarez are currently slotted into the 4th and 5th spots in the rotation, and while they have pitched well so far, neither one has the same upside as the much younger Povich.
Cade Povich is getting the call to Baltimore.
2024: 56.2 IP, 3.18 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 9.1% BB, 32.5% K
Might just be a spot start, but Povich is worth a look in 10+ team leagues.#Birdlandpic.twitter.com/CIepuy59Xg

Cade has been excellent at Triple-A Norfolk this season, going 5-1 with a 3.18 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 75 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings. He does have a tough task today as he will face a Blue Jays team that doesn't strike out much and is patient at the plate. I wouldn't expect more than five innings from Povich in this spot, but if he can keep the Blue Jays at bay, it will bode well for his chances of rejoining the rotation - perhaps on a more permanent basis.
He can be added to deep leagues as a spot starter and held as a stash, but again, we aren't likely to see him start again for a bit unless the Birds have another injury.
