Jarred Kelenic Injures His Wrist Wednesday
6 months agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic (wrist) landed on his right wrist awkwardly while making a fantastic diving catch in the bottom of the sixth inning on Wednesday at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox and exited the game an inning later. The Braves also pulled third baseman Austin Riley early in a blowout loss to Boston on the day, so it's possible Kelenic was merely pulled for precautionary reasons. Either way, we should find out soon with the Braves playing again on Thursday against the Washington Nationals. Before departing, Kelenic went 0-for-2 to drop his season average to .264 and his OPS to .708. The Braves can ill-afford another injury to an outfielder after already losing Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) for the year. J.P. Martinez replaced Kelenic on Wednesday and could see added playing time if Kelenic misses more time going into the weekend. UPDATE: Kelenic appears to be fine and should be back in there Thursday.
