10 months agoSeattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said on Tuesday that the team is legitimately considering right-handed pitching prospect Logan Evans for their big-league bullpen as soon as the second half of the season. Evans was drafted just last year in the 12th round out of Pittsburgh and is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the team's No. 19 prospect. The 22-year-old has been locked in at Double-A Arkansas this year with a 5-2 record, 1.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 47 strikeouts and 15 walks in 51 1/3 innings over 10 starts. In his first relief appearance at Double-A on Tuesday, Evans allowed an unearned run while walking one, hitting a batter and striking out one in two innings of work. He probably won't be much of a fantasy option in redraft leagues if he's in a relief role for his MLB debut, but Evans is an interesting arm to monitor and potentially stash in dynasty/keeper leagues who gets great extension on his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

10 months agoSeattle Mariners starting pitching prospect Logan Evans was dominant once again on Thursday as he tossed six clean frames with eight strikeouts. He allowed four hits and no walks. Evans began this season at Double-A after ending last season with Single-A, which was very unexpected. However, Seattle looks like they made the right call as their young right-hander looks on track to reach Triple-A this summer. Through 45 ⅓ innings with Double-A Arkansas, he has posted a near-perfect 1.39 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 14:41 BB:K ratio. Evans is ranked as the number 19 prospect in the Seattle system on MLB Pipeline, but that is sure to change through the summer as the former 12th-round selection has looked near unhittable through the early part of the summer.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

11 months agoSeattle Mariners pitching prospect Logan Evans has been off to a strong start in his first taste of Double-A ball. Through six starts and 28 ⅔ total innings, Evans has posted a 1.57 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 11 free passes and 23 punchouts. Last season at Single-A, he posted a minuscule 0.75 ERA and 0.75 WHIP across 12 innings with an elite 2:13 BB:K ratio. While Evans has made the jump from Single to Double-A look quite easy, he does need to lower his walk rate, as that seems to be one of his few struggles. The 19th-ranked prospect in the Seattle system should not be expected to contend for a spot on the major league roster this season but could find his way to Triple-A, making him worth adding in deeper dynasty leagues down the road.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
