Gerrit Cole Looks Good In First Rehab Start
6 months agoIn his first minor-league rehab start on Tuesday with Double-A Somerset, New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole (elbow) looked to be in midseason form, tossing 3 1/3 shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking none and striking out five. Cole was sitting in the mid- to upper-90s with his fastball during the outing and threw 34 of his 45 pitches for strikes. Manager Aaron Boone said earlier on Tuesday that Cole is going to need at least a few rehab starts before returning to the Yankees' starting rotation, but his 2024 debut shouldn't be far off, barring a setback with his right elbow. The reigning American League Cy Young winner should be stashed in all fantasy formats and will be a must-start immediately when he returns to the Bronx.
