Gerrit Cole Will Have "At Least A Few" Rehab Starts
6 months agoNew York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Tuesday that right-hander Gerrit Cole (elbow) will have "at least a few" minor-league rehab starts before the team has him rejoin the big-league rotation. Cole will start his rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Tuesday and is scheduled to throw 40 to 50 pitches. The 33-year-old will then need a few more starts in the minors before the Yankees will feel comfortable reinstating him from the 60-day injured list for his 2024 debut. If Cole gets through his rehab starts without any setbacks to his right elbow, he could be back for fantasy managers in late June. Cole hasn't pitched at all this year due to nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow. Once he's back, the reigning American League Cy Young winner will be a must-start every time he toes the rubber.
