ANALYSIS: Jose Tena, currently ranked as the 22nd prospect in the Guardians farm system, has been on a streak, hitting a home run in five out of his last 13 games. He now has a total of eight homers this season in Triple-A. Despite his recent home- run success, he ranks 48th in strikeout percentage (K%) among 188 qualified batters with a K% of 26.2%, consistent with his career average.
Tena's ability to play multiple positions in the infield could lead to a quicker call-up to the big leagues in the event of injuries. However, his high strikeout rate, limited power at the plate, average speed, and low ranking in walk percentage among qualified hitters (in the bottom 12%) suggest that it may not be advisable to allocate a roster spot for him right now.
