Julio Teheran Latches On With Orioles
6 months agoFree-agent right-hander Julio Teheran has signed a minor-league deal with the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. Teheran will give the Orioles some starting pitching depth after it was recently announced that both left-hander John Means (elbow) and Tyler Wells (elbow) will miss the rest of the 2024 season. The 33-year-old Teheran opted out of his minor-league deal with the Chicago Cubs over the weekend and has quickly latched on with another organization. The 13-year-old MLB veteran allowed four earned runs on six hits (one homer) in 2 2/3 innings in his lone start for the New York Mets this year and shouldn't be counted on for much in fantasy if he makes any starts for the O's the rest of this season. Teheran has a career 3.85 ERA (4.38 FIP) and 1.22 WHIP with a 20.5% strikeout rate and 8.0 % walk rate in 1,470 2/3 innings pitched.
