Denny Hamlin Finishes Second At St. Louis For The Second Time
6 months agoIn Sunday's Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway, Denny Hamlin quietly scored a finish of second. After starting sixth, the driver of the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota ran inside the Top 10 for almost the entire duration of the race. Hamlin obtained stage points by placing fifth and 10th at the end of the first and second stages, respectively. After taking advantage of a pit strategy similar to race winner Austin Cindric, Hamlin would coast along to his series-leading seventh top-5 finish of the year and his second consecutive runner-up result at WWTR. Hamlin would end this week as the second-highest scorer on FanDuel and the fifth-highest on DraftKings despite failing to lead a single lap. As the NASCAR Cup Series will next head to Sonoma Raceway, Hamlin looks to collect his first lead lap finish at the upcoming road course since 2021.
