David Bote Promoted And Starting In Series Finale
6 months agoChicago Cubs third baseman David Bote was promoted to the major-league roster earlier on Sunday and is in the starting lineup as the Cubs hope to clinch a series victory over the division-rival Cincinnati Reds. In a corresponding move, the Cubs sent down infielder Nick Madrigal to Triple-A Iowa. Bote showcased his home run ability in the minors by launching seven long balls and posting a .546 slugging percentage across 28 games for Iowa. On Sunday afternoon, Bote will cover the hot corner and bat eighth. Madrigal posted a poor .221 average and had some struggles defensively, which resulted in his demotion. Bote is worth monitoring in NL-only formats, as he could carve out a stable role in a Cubs lineup that has been struggling over the past few weeks. Bote will face southpaw Nick Lodolo on Sunday and should be faded in DFS lineups.
