Should William Byron Be Rostered At St. Louis?
6 months agoHendrick Motorsports driver William Byron will start 11th in the Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway. It is the second time in his Cup career at WWTR and the sixth time this season that Byron will start outside of the Top 10. In two previous starts at the St. Louis track, Byron's best finish is eighth, which he scored in last year's race while also leading 30 laps. With 14 races completed so far this season, Byron leads all drivers with nine top-10 finishes, which include the last two races. In practice, Byron ranked 22nd in five consecutive lap averages, 12th in 10 consecutive lap averages, and 15th in overall lap averages. Considering his practice speeds and how WWTR is not one of his top tracks, Byron is not one of the first drivers fantasy players should consider this week for lineups. Although Byron is usable in all formats, there are alternative options with more upside and better cap flexibility compared to him.
