2024 NFL QB Power Rankings: All 32 Starting QBs

Patrick Mahomes - Fantasy Football Rankings, DFS Lineup Picks, NFL Injury News

Quarterback is the single most important position in the NFL. The majority of the league does not have a starter in place that they can feel confident will lead them to the promised land. With veteran movement and a plethora of rookies in the fold, the 2024 quarterback carousel is well underway.

As camp battles unfold, the Week 1 starters will start to take shape. However, many quarterbacks who start Week 1 will not start Week 18.

These rankings are based on the current depth charts in the NFL. This early in the offseason, it is difficult to predict who will win camp battles, but the current depth charts seem to be pretty close to how Week 1 will look. Let's take a look at who has the most momentum heading into 2024.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2024:

The Top Tier

1) Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs

Three-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP, two-time league MVP, etc. This guy just keeps getting it done. It feels like we as football fans are in our Michael Jordan era. Whether you love or hate Mahomes, there is no denying his greatness. What is most impressive is how he has reinvented his game. Mahomes used to be a deep-bomb thrower until teams began throwing more zone coverage at him. Now, he is carving up defenses underneath. Don't be surprised if Mahomes leads the Chiefs to a historic third straight Super Bowl win.

2) Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills

Allen cemented himself as the second-best quarterback in the league in 2023. He needs to clean up the turnovers (he threw 18 interceptions in 2023) but his ability to put the Bills on his back has been undeniable. He has thrown for at least 4,283 yards and 29 touchdowns in three straight seasons. In 2023, his career-high rushing touchdown total ballooned from nine to 15. He has a tough task ahead of him in 2024 without Stefon Diggs, but Allen and Co. will continue to nip at the heels of the Chiefs.

3) Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens

The league's reigning MVP returns to a Ravens team that is poised to be excellent once again. After a couple of seasons marred by injuries and postseason disappointments, Jackson finally looked liked himself again in 2023. The Ravens were a few small mistakes away from heading to their first Super Bowl since the Joe Flacco era as well. This offseason was a bit of a retool for the flock. Jackson will be without three of his five starting offensive linemen, but he will have a new backfield running mate in Derrick Henry. Jackson should pick up right where he left off in 2024.

4) Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals

Burrow is the only quarterback in NFL history not named Tom Brady to lead his team to a playoff victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Burrow has been elite when on the field. Unfortunately, he has two high-end 4,000-yard passing seasons bookended by seasons shortened by injury. Even so, the Bengals will return most of their offensive core in 2024. Expect Burrow to continue dominating as long as he can stay healthy.

5) Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles

Hurts did not follow up his 2022 breakout in the manner that many expected him to. Hurts was actually pretty good through the Eagles' first 10 games, but he faltered down the stretch while clearly struggling through several injuries. With new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore coming to town in 2024, Hurts should have a bounce-back season and continue to be one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL.

Very Good Options

6) Dak Prescott– Dallas Cowboys

After leading the NFL in passing in 2023, Prescott is in prime position to be elite once again. It is worth noting that Prescott's elite run in 2023 came against porous teams. Additionally, while the Cowboys' Wild Card loss to the Packers was not all on Prescott, he displayed yet another disappointing postseason performance on his way to two interceptions and a 42.9 QBR. Even so, Prescott is a man on a mission to earn a new contract in 2024.

7) C.J. Stroud – Houston Texans

C.J. Stroud took the league by storm in 2023 by leading the Texans to a division title and a playoff win. Stroud threw for 4,108 yards and it took him six weeks to even throw his first NFL interception on his way to a 4.6:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. At one point, Stroud was an MVP candidate. With a full plethora of weapons at his disposal and another year of development, Stroud is poised for a huge leap in 2024. The future is bright for this kid.

8) Brock Purdy– San Francisco 49ers

Brock Purdy has been a polarizing quarterback during his young career. Some believe he is good, some believe he is average, but everyone can certainly agree that Purdy is not bad. He has been highly productive in a Kyle Shanahan system that is loaded with weapons and schemed to perfection. After coming off a 4,280-yard and 32-touchdown season, Purdy deserves to be in the top 10 on this list.

9) Jared Goff – Detroit Lions

As recently as 2021, Jared Goff was only viewed as a throw-in piece of the deal that sent Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles. He has been so much more and earned himself a lucrative $212 million extension. Heading into his age-30 season, Goff is squarely in his prime and is poised to lead a loaded roster. After leading the Lions to the NFC Championship Game in 2023, they have their sights set even higher in 2024.

10) Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams

Stafford has been a high-level quarterback in the league for a long time and that did not change in 2023. In 15 games in 2023, Stafford finished with 3,965 passing yards and 24 touchdowns. Additionally, he led what appeared to be an undermanned Rams team to the Wild Card playoff round. Stafford will play 2024 at age 36 but expect much of the same from the Georgia product in 2024 with an improved roster around him.

11) Jordan Love – Green Bay Packers

It would seem that the Packers organization has unlocked the secret to quarterback immortality. Draft a legend, win a Super Bowl with said legend, and draft his replacement to learn from him for three years. Jordan Love looks like he should be the next superstar NFL quarterback. While 2023 started off rocky, Love finished strong and led the Packers to a huge playoff victory over the Cowboys in the Wild Card round. With an embarrassment of pass-catching riches around him, Love looks like he is here to stay.

12) Justin Herbert – Los Angeles Chargers

Herbert has had a rough couple of seasons since he burst onto the scene in 2020 and 2021. A fractured rib in 2022 and a broken finger in 2023 have slowed Herbert's ascension. He also enters 2024 with question marks around his pass-catchers. Even so, Herbert is uber-talented and Jim Harbaugh should be able to get a lot out of him. The QB should bounce back in 2024.

13) Kyler Murray – Arizona Cardinals

Murray could very well play his way back into the top 10 on this list but it remains to be seen how well he returns from his torn ACL suffered in 2022. The Cardinals have committed to Murray as their starter and they will be an improved team in 2024. Head coach Jonathan Gannon seems to be building a legitimate culture and identity in Arizona, and Murray seems to be bought in. This is a player to watch in 2024.

14) Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa has been an excellent distributor for Miami's high-T offense in the Mike McDaniel era. Additionally, Tagovailoa seems to have moved past the injury issues that plagued him during his first three seasons in the league. He was a stat machine in 2023, finishing with 4,624 passing yards and 29 touchdowns. While Tagovailoa has been a technician in McDaniel's system, he has faltered down the stretch of seasons when the weather turns cold and teams figure the offense out. Time will tell if Tagovailoa can overcome that shortcoming.

Starters With Upside

15) Aaron Rodgers – New York Jets

One of the all-time greats, Aaron Rodgers will enter 2024 with a sense of urgency after succumbing to a torn Achilles tendon after four plays in 2023. Rodgers' name carries a lot of weight, but the last time we saw him in a full season in 2022, he was not the same old Rodgers. The veteran showed signs of decline with 3,695 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Even so, those numbers would be a lot better than what the Jets have gotten the last few years.

16) Kirk Cousins – Atlanta Falcons

Cousins continues to be a top-half quarterback in the NFL. Although he puts up huge numbers, he has never been a massive difference-maker for his teams and has failed to truly reach elite status. However, Cousins' teams are usually competitive even if they are not a playoff contender. As he enters a new era as the Falcons' starting quarterback, Cousins should enjoy similar success to what he experienced in Minnesota. Will it be enough to catapult the Falcons into Super Bowl contention?

via GIPHY

17) Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars

Lawrence has been good but not great to this point in his NFL career. After being subject to an Urban Meyer-led team in his rookie season in 2021, Lawrence has blossomed under Doug Pederson. Although Lawrence has been a quality starter, he has not ascended to the heights that many expected him to coming out of Clemson. With a revamped receiving corps and other plugged holes on the roster, he could take a big leap in 2024.

Low-End Starting Caliber

18) Derek Carr – New Orleans Saints

Carr's 2023 season was actually not as bad as it felt. While his yardage total was sub-4,000, his touchdown-to-interception ratio was 3.2:1. Carr has enjoyed a long career as a starter because he has been good enough to keep his teams relevant or even competitive. The Saints should not have Super Bowl aspirations with Carr at the helm, but with a good defense in place, he should be able to lead them to a winning season and potentially a playoff berth.

19) Geno Smith – Seattle Seahawks

After bursting back onto the NFL scene in 2022, Smith regressed in 2023. He was running for his life in 2023 with a protection rate of 79.8%, which was good for 33rd in the league. Couple that with a groin injury suffered midseason and there is no wonder why Smith had a down year from 2022. With Ryan Grubb entering the fold to coordinate the offense, Smith should see an uptick in production in 2024.

via GIPHY

20) Baker Mayfield – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield only seems to thrive when there is zero pressure to produce. He burst onto the scene as a rookie, faltered for a couple of years, had a resurgence as a Ram in 2022, and quarterbacked a low-stakes Buccaneers team to the Divisional Round in 2023. Now that Mayfield got his bag and a new set of expectations, can he continue to produce?

21) Russell Wilson – Pittsburgh Steelers

Wilson will enter 2024 as the starting quarterback of the Steelers after a tumultuous two years in Denver. Wilson finished 2023 with 3,070 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions. Those aren't elite numbers, but with a better roster, that will get things done. Wilson should have a solid running game and plenty of weapons to choose from in Pittsburgh. The Chef Russ days are behind us, but maybe there is a little bit more of that unlimited magic left.

via GIPHY

22) Deshaun Watson – Cleveland Browns

Watson is a tough player to rank. In just 12 games played for the Browns in two seasons, Watson has only thrown for 184.75 yards per game and has 16 total touchdowns with nine interceptions. He has been nothing short of abysmal since the Browns sent the Texans three first-round picks, a third-round pick, and a fourth-round pick for him in 2022. However, Watson is still young and we know what he was once capable of. If he cannot recapture that magic this year, then it may be time to write him off.

23) Jacoby Brissett – New England Patriots

Jacoby Brissett has made a long career in the NFL out of being a quality starter when called upon while also providing high-end backup insurance. Brissett is an excellent veteran presence and should be a fantastic mentor for the Patriots' first-round pick, Drake Maye. Brissett has thrown for 10,574 yards in his career and boasts a solid touchdown-to-interception ratio of 2.2:1.

24) Sam Darnold – Minnesota Vikings

At this point, we know what Sam Darnold is. After being drafted third overall by the Jets in 2018, Darnold has never really lived up to his potential. He is a classic case of a quarterback who landed in the wrong situation. Now relegated to career backup, Darnold has amassed 12,064 passing yards and 63 touchdowns. He will attempt to hold down the Vikings' starting job for as long as he can, but we all know this is going to be the J.J. McCarthy show sooner rather than later.

25) Daniel Jones – New York Giants

Prior to tearing his ACL in 2023, Daniel Jones had a rough go. Jones followed up a solid 2022 season by throwing for 908 yards and two touchdowns with six interceptions in six games in 2023. Jones' protection rate was only 72.8% and he did not have anyone to throw the ball to. With first-round pick Malik Nabers coming to town, hopefully Jones can get back to his old form.

The Unknown Young Pups

26) Anthony Richardson – Indianapolis Colts

Richardson flashed serious potential in 2023, and he should turn out to be a quality player. In four games in 2023 (only two of which he started and finished), Richardson recorded seven total touchdowns and only threw one interception. His accuracy concerns coming out of college were real as he recorded a completion percentage of 59.8%. Richardson appears to be a hard worker with a legitimate play-caller in head coach Shane Steichen. In 2025, Richardson could very well be in the top 10-15 on this list.

27) Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears

It is difficult to rank Williams before he has even had a chance to take a single NFL snap. However, with his pedigree and the weapons the Bears have acquired for him, Williams is in prime position to succeed immediately. Still, we cannot let the recent immediate success of C.J. Stroud blind us to the fact that Stroud was an anomaly and not the norm. The ascension of Williams could take longer than we want it to.

28) Will Levis – Tennessee Titans

Levis will enter 2024 with a full offseason as the starter and new weapons in Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard. While he was not unbelievably productive in nine games in 2023, Levis did manage to take care of the ball by only throwing four interceptions to eight touchdowns. There is a lot of room for growth, and Levis has all the tools he needs to develop.

29) Jayden Daniels – Washington Commanders

The Commanders are hoping that Daniels can catapult them back to relevance as their franchise quarterback. The No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has a solid foundation around him with wide receivers Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Luke McCaffrey. The offensive line leaves a lot to be desired, but Daniels is positioned better than many first-year quarterbacks to succeed.

30) Bo Nix – Denver Broncos

Broncos head coach Sean Payton got his guy with the 12th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Nix will enter the fold with many Drew Brees comparisons as he attempts to operate Payton's surgical offense. Nix is highly experienced with 61 college starts under his belt. That experience should pay dividends in the NFL.

31) Aidan O'Connell – Las Vegas Raiders

O'Connell is a very unknown commodity. The 2023 fourth-round pick will have the opportunity to win the starting job and build on his 2,218-yard and 12-touchdown rookie campaign. Outside of wide receiver Davante Adams, the Raiders do not have any proven high-end talent on their roster. Still, O'Connell was solid in relief of Jimmy Garoppolo in 2023.

32) Bryce Young – Carolina Panthers

The 2023 No. 1 overall pick was not given a fighter's chance to succeed in his rookie year. His best weapon was a 33-year-old Adam Thielen and his offensive line was terrible. Young actually flashed potential in 2023. He was the No. 1 pick for a reason. Now, it is up to new head coach Dave Canales to coax that potential out of Young. There are reasons for optimism here.
