Meanwhile, Juan Soto's first year in the Bronx could not be going any better. He and Aaron Judge have been top ten fantasy performers and have helped carry the Yankees to the best record in the American League.

2024 Fantasy Baseball Rest of Season Rankings

Witt Jr. has a pretty sizeable lead in runs scored and stolen bases, while Soto has been hitting for more power and driving in more runs. Both guys are hitting around the same average and we can expect them to continue to do so as they both make a lot of quality contact.

Witt swiped 49 bases last season and is on pace to match or exceed that number this year. The large number of steals is where Witt Jr. separates himself from Soto and other top players. Soto stole 12 bases last year and is on pace for around 12 again this year. The one area where Soto could regress at some point is his average as he hasn't hit over .300 since 2021 back when he was still in Washington.

Both players are still very young (Witt is 24, Soto is 25) and we could see them hit their fantasy ceilings this season and finish with career years. I have to give the edge to Witt Jr. and I project him to finish second behind Ohtani in overall 5x5 value, while I think Soto is still in line for a top-five finish, too.
