Trevor Megill Leaves After Being Hit By Comebacker
6 months agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill (arm) was forced to leave Tuesday's game in the 10th inning against the visiting division-rival Chicago Cubs after he was hit in the right arm by a line drive off the bat of outfielder Mike Tauchman. Megill was hit with the loss, his first of the year, after allowing two runs (one earned) on just one hit to raise his season ERA to 2.57. We should have a better idea of how serious the 30-year-old reliever's injury is later on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning after he likely undergoes some tests. Megill has emerged as Milwaukee's go-to arm for save situations with Devin Williams (back) on the shelf all year. Coming into Tuesday's game, Megill had a sharp 1.93 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with his first eight career saves. If Megill is forced to miss extended time with his arm injury, Elvis Peguero and Bryan Hudson could be options for save opportunities. UPDATE: Megill did not suffer a fracture, per manager Pat Murphy.
