Drew Thorpe is a fantasy baseball dynasty waiver wire pickup for Week 9 (2024). Read about Drew Thorpe's season to date.
PROSPECT: Drew Thorpe, SP, Chicago White Sox
ERIC CROSS' LATEST PROSPECT RANKING: No. 91
CALL-UP ETA: Late 2024/Early 2025
ANALYSIS: The Chicago White Sox have emphasized adding prospects over the past year, and one prospect that the team can be excited about is pitcher Drew Thorpe. He came over in the Dylan Cease trade earlier this year, along with Jairo Iriarte, Steven Wilson, and Samuel Zavala. Thorpe, though, was the main piece in that deal, and he has shown that potential in eight starts at Double-A Birmingham this season.
The right-hander has a 1.50 ERA and 40 strikeouts across 42 innings pitched. He is also holding opposing hitters to a .179 average. In his most recent outing, Thorpe gave up just two hits with two walks and seven strikeouts across 5 2/3 shutout innings. That start marked the fourth time this year that the 23-year-old gave up zero runs in an outing.
Drew Thorpe's 70-grade changeup is on point for the Double-A @BhamBarons.

Thorpe continues to fly up prospects rankings and should be rostered in every dynasty league moving forward. The right-hander has a career 2.28 ERA in 31 minor league starts. He is MLB Pipeline's No. 56 overall prospect and the 10th-best pitching prospect in baseball.
