Joey Logano Will Start On The Pole In The 2024 NASCAR All-Star Race
6 months agoJoey Logano will start on the pole in Sunday's All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Logano, a former All-Star Race winner (2016), finds himself in an unusual spot heading into the weekend as he sits 17th in the standings, which places him on the wrong side of the cutoff line for the NASCAR playoffs. While Sunday's race will not have any impact on the playoff picture, a strong performance could go a long way in building momentum for a team that has finished outside the top-10 in each of the last five races. Despite his recent struggles, it should be noted that the last two times he finished in the top 10 were at Martinsville and Richmond, short tracks similar to the one he will be racing at Sunday night. His success on these two short tracks, combined with the fact that his starting position does provide opportunity to rack up lead lap points, make the 17-year Cup veteran a tempting option in DFS this weekend. Last season, Daniel Suarez started from this same position at this track and ended up scoring 47.9 DraftKings points, which was the eighth most on the slate. Although Suarez is a tremendously talented driver, he is not in the same tier as Joey Logano, which could bode well for the soon-to-be 34-year old on Sunday night. While you will not want to go overweight on the No. 22, his success on short tracks and the fact that his starting position is favorable for both a strong finish and for earning lead lap points, justify having some exposure to the Team Penske star in DFS this weekend.
