Rickie Fowler Makes His Return To Valhalla
6 months agoThe 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla produced one of the most memorable Major finishes in recent golf history, with Rory McIlroy making a late charge in the near darkness to capture his fourth Major title. Sometimes forgotten in that story is PGA Tour veteran Rickie Fowler, who held a share of a three-shot lead at the turn along with Phil Mickelson. Fowler returns to the scene of the crime this week, and fantasy managers may be tempted to roster him based on recent form, course fit, and Major history. He's less than one year removed from his sixth Tour victory at the Rocket Mortgage classic, and he's made the cut in his last three Major appearances, including a T5 finish at the 2023 U.S. Open last June. And while he does lack the requisite strength off-the-tee for Valhalla, his elite short game could keep him in contention with a low greens-in-regulation percentage expected this week. Regardless of roster percentage, Fowler is still a fan favorite on Tour and will be an exciting player to keep an eye on at the PGA Championship.
