Michael McDowell Finishes 10th at Darlington Raceway
7 months agoOn Sunday afternoon Michael McDowell finished with his second top-10 finish in as many weeks as he placed 10th in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway. While earning his fourth top-10 finish of the season is noteworthy, the biggest news story of the week related to the No. 34 had nothing to do with what he did on track but rather where he will be racing in 2025. On Wednesday, May 8, it was announced that McDowell has signed a multiyear deal with Spire Motorsports that will take effect beginning next season. While drivers making jumps to a different team is nothing new, you do not typically hear official announcements this early in the current season about such moves. Because moves like the one that was announced last Wednesday raise many questions about where the priority and focus will be for the team in transition, that driver involved in the shakeup becomes a risky play when it comes to DFS and sports betting. Nevertheless, despite some questions heading into the weekend, McDowell had a solid outing at Darlington, scoring 40 DraftKings points, exceeding value on his $6,500 salary. Up next for the 17-year Cup veteran is a trip to North Wilkesboro for NASCAR's annual All-Star weekend, where he will have a shot at earning a $1 million payday.
