ANALYSIS: Simeon Woods Richardson didn't make the club out of spring training, but that was only because the Twins didn't need a fifth starter until mid-April. Woods Richardson was summoned on April 13 and only allowed one run in six innings to the Tigers. He followed that up with back-to-back effective outings against the White Sox, then dominated the Mariners. Then yesterday happened.

Woods Richardson didn't do anything out of the ordinary, but the Blue Jays managed to make good, hard contact. Sometimes that happens. The lack of great swing-and-miss stuff will keep him out of the elite tier, but the youngster is still worth adding to deploy in plus matchups for the rest of the season. Woods Richardson had a 1.74 ERA coming into yesterday's matchup.
He is just 23 years old, so Woods Richardson will learn to pitch with a lead as he gets more experience. We've seen him pitch well and win the close games. He just needs to stay in the game when his offense spots him a big lead.
The overall numbers are still good. He has 23 strikeouts in 25 innings and a 3.24 ERA. Keep in mind that the Twins aren't going to let him go deep into games and the bullpen showed that they are still a work in progress. Wins are the hardest thing to chase in fantasy baseball. Roster Woods Richardson knowing that he will help your strikeouts and won't hurt your ERA.
