Miles Wood Finishes Off Big Comeback Win
11 months agoColorado Avalanche winger Miles Wood completed the team's unlikely comeback in Game 1 of their second-round series against the Dallas Stars, posting the overtime winner in a 4-3 victory. Wood was sprung on a partial breakaway, and took care of business by zipping around the Dallas defender and sliding the puck past Jake Oettinger. Wood has been a role player for the Avalanche this year, and sometimes those are the players you need to step up in a game like this. The Avs will look to take a 2-0 stranglehold in the series on Thursday in Dallas.

Miles Wood Added To Injured Reserve
4 months agoColorado Avalanche left wing Miles Wood (upper body) was placed on Injured Reserve Thursday. The 29-year-old exits the lineup just six games after recovering from an upper-body injury. Wood has flirted with the 30-point plateau in recent campaigns but is well off the pace to get there in 2024-25, sitting on three points (two goals, one assist) in 16 appearances. In a corresponding move, the Avalanche have brought Chris Wagner back up from the AHL. Wagner has averaged barely over seven minutes a night in the NHL this season, scoring one goal in 12 games.

Miles Wood To Miss 7-10 Days
5 months agoColorado Avalanche left wing Miles Wood will miss the next 7-10 days with an upper-body injury. Wood joins a number of other attacking players on the shelf, meaning defenseman Oliver Kylington will be used as a forward on Wednesday versus Tampa Bay. Nikolai Kovalenko will move to the first line, while Ivan Ivan gets to roll with the second line. The latter is also expected to be part of the top power-play unit. Despite missing some of its best players, Colorado has the third-best power play in the league with a 33.3 percent efficiency. The team faces a struggling 71.9 percent penalty kill on Wednesday.

Miles Wood Good To Go Sunday
5 months agoColorado Avalanche left wing Miles Wood (undisclosed) will play against the Senators on Sunday. His status for the game was initially uncertain after Wood sat out Saturday's practice with an undisclosed injury. Wood mostly skates in a bottom-six role for the Avalanche and has seen very little success offensively this season. Through eight contests, he boasts one goal with 15 shots. However, Wood could do some damage on Sunday as a member of the second power-play unit, as Ottawa has struggled on the penalty kill in 2024-25.

Miles Wood Available On Friday
6 months agoColorado Avalanche left wing Miles Wood (upper body) will play against Anaheim on Friday. Wood has said he's "good to go" for the game despite leaving Wednesday's matchup against Boston with an upper-body injury. This is great news for the Avalanche, whose frontline has been decimated by injuries. Wood has logged one goal with eight shots in four games this season. He's set to skate on the fourth line in Friday's game.
