Early during the day on Friday, Odell Beckham Jr. signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. Sources say the deal is worth $3 million with incentives that can push Beckham's financial gains to $8.25 million for the 2024 NFL season.
The former 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft has been a bit of a journeyman over the last few seasons -- spending time with the Browns, Rams, and Ravens since 2021. While Beckham was a three-time Pro Bowl selection early in his career, he hasn't played an entire season of games since 2019 -- mainly due to injuries. Most notable of these are Beckham's back-to-back Grade 3 ACL tears in his left knee that he suffered in 2020 and 2022.
Despite this, Odell Beckham Jr. could still provide value to the Dolphins and our fantasy teams. We can't expect a Pro Bowl, but it seems like Beckham still has some juice in the tank.

Fantasy Impact For The Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa took another step forward in 2023, eclipsing 4,000 yards for the first time in his career (4,624) and bumped his completion percentage up to 69.3%. That was good for third in the league among qualified passers -- just a shade behind Dak Prescott's (69.5%) and Brock Purdy's (69.4%). Let us recall that Tua did most of his damage last season by funneling the ball to his superstar WR duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The two speedsters accounted for 60% of Tua's yards and just under 50% of his targets (49.1%).
No other Miami Dolphin has a target total higher than 51 since Hill joined the team in 2022, hinting at a potential lack of a solid third option in the Dolphins' passing attack. Odell Beckham Jr. should immediately be a candidate to compete with Braxton Berrios and River Cracraft for third WR duties behind Waddle and Hill. Berrios filled that spot for the Dolphins in 2023 -- totaling an uninspiring 27 receptions on just 33 targets in 16 games.
If Beckham does win this role in Miami's offense, he should be a serviceable starter for them in 2024. Regarding fantasy, Beckham currently projects as a WR3/4 or a flex option with TD upside until he proves to be a legitimate target earner -- like earlier in his career. While it's inevitable Hill and Waddle will lose some targets to him, this feels like a positive for the offense as a whole, and it doesn't deter me from still taking Hill with a round-one selection in fantasy drafts.

The player that stands out with the most to gain from this transaction is easily Tua. Giving an accurate passer such as this another viable option bodes well for his touchdown total -- which has yet to surpass 30. This certainly seems like a good year to bet on that.
