Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler (elbow) will make his return from Tommy John surgery on Monday to face the Miami Marlins, according to manager Dave Roberts. Buehler will come off the 15-day injured for his first start of 2024 after having elbow reconstruction in August of 2022. The 29-year-old didn't pitch at all in the big leagues last year. Because of his long layoff, fantasy managers may want to temper expectations, but if Buehler returns to his pre-injury form, he could be the difference-maker for fantasy staffs. In his six minor-league starts, he had a 4.15 ERA and 1.62 WHIP with nine walks and 21 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. Rust should be expected from Buehler, but his first start against Miami will be a great matchup for fantasy purposes.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Boston Red Sox announced on Tuesday that they reinstated right-hander Walker Buehler (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Nick Burdi to Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move. Buehler will return to the mound on Tuesday at Fenway Park to face the visiting New York Mets, an offense that ranks ninth in baseball with a .741 OPS. The 30-year-old veteran skipped a minor-league rehab assignment, so this will be his first start since April 26. He's been pretty solid for the BoSox in his first six starts of 2025, going 4-1 with a 4.28 ERA (4.29 FIP) and 1.22 WHIP with 29 strikeouts and nine walks in 33 2/3 innings. However, given the fact that he skipped a rehab assignment and that he's going against one of the better lineups in baseball, fantasy managers may want to keep him benched for his first start off the IL.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Walker Buehler (shoulder) is expected to take the mound for Tuesday's game against the New York Mets, according to manager Alex Cora. Buehler appears to be on the verge of returning after landing on the injured list on May 2 due to a shoulder bursitis. He threw a successful live batting practice session on Thursday. Now, the Red Sox are waiting a few days to make sure Buehler doesn't suffer any setbacks. He won't get an easy matchup against the tough Mets lineup, but Buehler is still worth rostering in most 12-team formats right now.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

Boston Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday and is scheduled for another one on Thursday. Barring a setback, Buehler is expected to return to the team's starting rotation for the three-game series against the New York Mets in Boston that runs from May 19-21. The 30-year-old veteran landed on the 15-day injured list on May 2 with inflammation in his right shoulder, but it looks like he's going to return to the big leagues without going on a minor-league rehab assignment. We wouldn't blame fantasy managers for wanting to leave Buehler on their bench when he returns to face the first-place Mets next week. In his six starts in his first season in Beantown, the former Dodgers hurler has gone 4-1 with a 4.28 ERA (4.29 FIP) and 1.22 WHIP with 29 strikeouts and nine walks in 33 2/3 frames.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Walker Buehler (shoulder) is expected to return for the team's series against the Mets that goes from May 19-21, according to manager Alex Cora. The 30-year-old has been on the 15-day injured list with minor bursitis in his right shoulder. Before going down with the injury, the 2x All-Star was 4-1 with a 4.28 ERA (3.72 xFIP), 1.22 WHIP, and a 14.3 percent K-BB%, but had been more effective than those numbers suggest over his last four starts with three of those four registering as quality starts (2.59 ERA, 1.07 WHIP). Although the righty doesn't strike out as many batters as he used to, he should be a solid back-end option for fantasy once he returns. Hunter Dobbins, who has looked good in limited action, will get another turn through the rotation next week against the Pirates, but could be the odd man out once Buehler returns.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller
